The peer-reviewed, professional journal Nature Conservation Bulletins will continue to welcome manuscripts in 2025.
The focus of the journal is on conservation issues in Hungary and other regions of the Carpathian Basin. The articles published in the volume will reach a wide professional audience in the Carpathian Basin thanks to free online publication. The journal thus provides an opportunity for researchers to communicate their results not only to the scientific community but also to colleagues working in the field of nature conservation, thus helping to make their results useful for conservation.
Our mission is also to make available the very valuable field experience of practitioners in the field, as this knowledge can contribute to the enrichment of national conservation knowledge by complementing the studies planned by professional researchers. We also welcome articles from early career professionals and PhD students.
Please note that from 2025 the journal will also accept manuscripts in English in addition to Hungarian, as long as they fit the Carpathian Basin focus of the journal!
There are four different sections in our journal where articles can be published:
Results of conservation biology research using scientific methods are welcome in our Scientific Research section.
Our section on Social Science in Conservation welcomes articles that have applied social science methods to research on the conservation of habitats, natural values, ecosystem services, including the exploration of traditional knowledge.
Our Lessons in Conservation Practice section mainly invites contributions from conservation practitioners on field surveys, results of interventions or problems in conservation practice. As these articles are different in nature from the description of research designed for scientific purposes, we have opened a separate section for them.
In our section Reviews of Books and Digital Materials, we welcome the presentation of Hungarian or foreign books related to the journal's theme, as well as the description of Internet sites and programmes (e.g. databases, electronic decision makers, smartphone applications, etc.) that can be used in nature conservation.
The journal has a DOI identifier, and we also provide English-language abstracts for Hungarian-language articles to help the journal's international visibility. The journal is indexed by the Hungarian Science Repository (Magyar Tudományos Művek Tára, MTMT), individual articles are archived by the MTA REAL repository, and complete volumes are archived by the MTA REAL-J repository.
Deadline for manuscript submission for Volume 31, to be published in 2025: 15th April 2025. The deadline for submissions to the Book Review section is 30th September 2025.
Please note that the completed articles will be published on our website throughout the year, before the full volume is available.
Manuscripts should be submitted to termeszetvedelmi.kozlemenyek@gmail.com.
